We stopped selling the map. What a county allows you to build is a fact, and facts belong in the open — so the county research is becoming a public reference: free to read, free to cite, and free for other tools to build on. What stays paid is the part a lookup can't do — reading a county's code against your parcel and your plan. Anyone who already bought keeps everything they bought, permanently.
The map · the research
Free to browse, free to search, free to cite. Every county's letter grade, every filter, and the sourced research behind it — open, because a fact about what a county allows shouldn't sit behind a paywall.
1,000 counties researched against primary sources — county code, state statute, agency data. Every claim carries its source URL, a direct quote, and the date we checked it. Where we couldn't verify something, we say so instead of guessing.
Not for sale yet — because it isn't finished. When it opens you'll buy it from a county: open the map, click the one you're serious about, and buy it there. It has to know which county it's advising you on.
The map is partial and we say so on every page. Counties we haven't reached are marked unverified rather than guessed at — an honest gap is worth more than a confident invention.
Closed
We stopped selling it, and we stopped selling map access with it. The county research is becoming free — a public reference anyone can read, cite, or build on. Charging a hundred people for lifetime access to something we intend to give away would have been taking money for a promise we no longer plan to keep.
Founders bundled lifetime map access with every future County Advisor. We are making the map research free, which removed most of what Founders was selling — so rather than keep taking money for it, we closed it. Nobody had claimed a place, so nobody is affected.
How new counties get made
We won't pretend to have verified all 3,000-plus counties. We build them where people actually want them. If the county you care about isn't done yet, you can request it — and the request itself is a signal that keeps the map growing where it matters. Founders' counties compile first.
No payment, no obligation. You're voting, not buying — and the queue really is built in the order people ask.
What's next
The County Advisor reads a county's code against your parcel and your plan — the part a free lookup can't do. It isn't finished, so it isn't for sale. Join the list and we'll tell you when it opens.
No spam. One email when it's ready, plus the occasional new-county note.
Founders — the fine print
We'd rather spell this out now than have you feel misled later. Founders get every county we ever publish and every County Advisor — for as long as this product exists, with no further charge, no subscription, and no price steps. That's the deal, and we intend to keep it.
Founders is capped at 100 and then closes for good. The counter is real — it counts actual sales, not a marketing number.
Refunds
Map Access and Founders: if you open the map and it isn't what you expected, email us and we'll refund you. No form, no hoops. The access closes when the refund goes through — that's the trade, and it's a fair one.
The County Advisor is different, and we'd rather say so plainly than surprise you. It isn't a thing you hold — it's an answer you receive. Once you've opened your county and read what its code actually says for the build you're planning, you have the thing you paid for. We can't un-tell you. So the Advisor is refundable before you open it, and not after.
That's $19.99, and it buys that county completely — the full sourced card as well as the reasoning. If you want to know whether the research is any good before you spend it, don't. Open the free map first — 5 counties are fully unlocked, and every county in the country carries a free letter grade. Look at those, then decide.
Regulations change and we get things wrong. When we do, we fix it in public and log the correction — you can read how we verify and every correction we've made. If a card is wrong, we want to hear it more than we want your $49.
